How To Maintain Extensions.

Have you wondered how I maintain my extensions? Here are a few tips and tricks for just that!

So… y’all I’ve had almost every short cut and style in my lifetime. 36 years of horrid hair. I mean I’ve pretty much hid every photo of the age 2 up. (seriously) I rarely leave my house without my hair and make up completely done. (Serious again) I don’t even go to the gym without at least foundation. I know, I know great for the complexion right?

In the past few years I have really learned to embrace my hair mishaps. With the help of developing CityGRL hair products, I was able to at least achieve somewhat normal hair. Soft and manageable for the most part. Most recently I was able to convince the lovely Stacy to place hotheads extensions in. OMG I fell in lust.

I will openly admit that I feel 100% better in my skin. So to her I owe my first born, just kidding Preston. You know I would trade Jason lol!

SO HOW DO I MAINTAIN THESE BEAUTIFUL LOCKS?

I literally wash and condition them twice a week. I know this seems crazy right? Im serious about making the hair as soft as it can be. This ensures styling and look seems more natural. (Ain’t no one gonna call me out on my weave!)

Secondly, I place a leave in conditioner with a styling oil. Obviously I use city girl hair care products every day. I mix two pumps of every day miracle treatment and one piece size amount of amethyst oil, apply when wet. Then I blow dry as usual. Making sure to use a soft round brush and not to pull too hard at the scalp.
Depending on the type of style that I want especially curls I will use different products or styling aids to achieve these goals. Most often times I will use illusionist spray after blow drying before I curl to ensure that my curls will hold. In order to achieve a good, long lasting curl I use a 1inch titanium iron. The iron I currently use would be a U smooth. Made in the US and has an amazing warranty!

Now, one thing you have to understand is when styling extensions you don’t want to much product. I use a light hold hairspray at the end of my style to create volume and texture. I never overdo it. Even though I can use the level options that are available on the CityGRL In Control hairspray. Light medium and high. I always keep it and maintain it on low.

Remember, I style my hair daily. But I also use my fingers to break up any tangles. And only lightly brush.

If any of this resonates with you. Please send us a message.

I suggest removing extensions and letting the hair and scalp rest every third move up.
